Chilli Paneer

If you love Chinese food then I am sure you have eaten Chilli Paneer. Did you know it’s very easy and quick to make Chilli Paneer at home. Today I will be sharing a easy restaurant style chilli paneer recipe. You can enjoy this with fried rice.

Ingredients

For Paneer Coating
  • 250g paneer/cottage cheese cubes
  • 2 tablespoons corn flour
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • oil for frying
For Chilli Paneer Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger finely chopped
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 2 tablespoons spring onion
  • 1 tablespoon green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 large capsicum diced
  • salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 2 tablespoons soya sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1½ tablespoons corn flour + ¼ cup water for corn flour slurry
  • spring onions for garnish

Steps In Making

  1. In a bowl add paneer cubes, corn flour, salt and black pepper and mix till the paneer is well coated.
  2. Now place a kadai with oil on medium flame and once it turns hot add the paneer cubes and fry till they get a nice turn light golden colour.
  3. Now transfer them on a tissue paper
For Chilli Paneer Sauce
  1. Place a pan over high heat and add oil in it.
  2. Now add chopped garlic and ginger and saute for 10-15 seconds.
  3. Further add the diced onions and spring onions and saute for a minute. Do not over cook.
  4. Add diced capsicum and saute for another minute.
  5. Now add salt, black pepper powder, vinegar, soya sauce and mix well.
  6. To prepare the corn flour slurry in a bowl add corn flour and water and mix well. it will have a thin, runny consistency.
  7. Now add the corn flour slurry on the veggies and toss for a minute. Add some water depending on high thin or thick you want the gravy.
  8. Now add fried paneer cubes and mix till they are properly mixed in the gravy.
  9. Cook for a minute or two.
  10. Lastly garnish with spring onions and serve immediately with fried rice or hakka noodles.

Recipe Notes

  • Do not over cook the vegetables, they should have a nice bite and crunch while eating.
  • You can shallow fry the paneer if needed.
  • Keep stirring while adding the cornflour slurry else they will form into lumps.
