Ingredients For French Toast

  • ½ cup (120ml) milk
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 6 medium slice bread
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons powdered/caster sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons oil (any flavourless oil)

Steps In Making Classic French Toast Recipe

  1. In a wide mouth bowl add eggs, milk, salt, vanilla extract and mix till everything is well combined.
  2. Further add powdered sugar and mix again. Keep it aside.
  3. On a non stick pan over medium flame add 1/2 a teaspoon of butter and oil each.
  4. Take a slice of bread and dip each side in the liquid mixture and put it on the nonstick pan. Do not dip it more than once else the bread will become soggy and might break.
  5. Now cook each side for couple of minutes or until it gets a light golden colour crust.
  6. Serve hot with maple syrup or whipped cream.

Recipe Notes

  • Always take room temperature ingredients.
  • Can replace vanilla extract with a pinch of cinnamon powder.
  • Stale or 2-3 days old bread works perfect for French toast, as it soaks the liquid ingredients nicely.
  • Can use low fat or full fat milk.

11. Similarly cook the rest of the French toast.
