  • 3 cups (300g) rolled oats
  • 1 cup (140g) whole almonds
  • ½ cup (62g) dried cranberries
  • 75g (½ cup) sunflower/melon seeds
  • 65g (½ cup) raw pumpkin seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • ¼ cup (54g) brown sugar
  • ¼ cup (60ml) water
  • ¼ cup (60ml) oil (canola, vegetable, sunflower oil)
  • ¼ cup + 2 tablespoon (90ml) honey

Main Equipments Used

Steps In Making Homemade Granola

  1. Preheat oven to 165C (320F) and butter the baking tray.
  2. In a large bowl mix rolled oats, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower/melons seeds.
  3. In another bowl add oil, honey, water, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon powder and mix well. Combine the wet and the dry ingredients together making sure everything is moistened; else granola might burn while baking.
  4. Now spread it on the prepared baking tray, insert the tray in the middle rack of the oven and bake for around 35-40 minutes or until it turns golden brown, stirring every 15 minutes for even baking.
  5. Once baked add the dried cranberries and let it cool down completely. Please note granola will be soft when it’s out from the oven, but once it begins to cool down it will turn crispy.
  6. Store in an airtight container for upto 2 months.

Hey Shiana, the regular Quaker oats we use at home are instant oats, they are the most processed, precooked and thinner than rolled oats, they can be cooked instantly, that’s why they are called instant oats. Whereas rolled oats are not that processed or broken down, they are larger in size and have a nice bite and texture. Will recommend you to use rolled oats for granola recipe, as instant oats wont give you that chewy nutty bite and texture. Whereas I will share a recipe of Granola bar using instant oats too. 🙂 All the best, enjoy.
