Ingredients
Kadai Paneer masala
- 2 tablespoons coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon black pepper corns
- 3 dried red chillies
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 cloves
- 2 green cardamom
To Sauté Vegetables & Paneer
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 medium onion (diced)
- 1 medium capsicum (diced)
- 200g paneer/ cottage cheese
- ¼ teaspoon red chilli powder
Kadai Paneer Gravy
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 medium onions (finely chopped)
- 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
- 2 green chillies
- 2 large tomatoes (finely chopped)
- salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon kashmiri red chilli powder
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoons coriander powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin powder
- 4 tablespoons water
- 1.5 tablespoons kadai paneer masala
- 1 tablespoon kasuri methi
- 2 tablespoons fresh cream

Steps In Making
Kadai Paneer masala
- In a pan dry roast all the whole spices; coriander seeds, black pepper corns, dried red chillies, cumin seeds, cloves and green cardamom for 2-3 minutes.
- Now let it cool down and then grind the spices till it get a coarse texture. Do not make a fine powder.
To Sauté Vegetables & Paneer
- Heat oil in a pan and then add diced onions and sauté them for a minute on high heat. Once done remove it in a plate. Do not over cook them.
- Similarly sauté the capsicum for a minute and then remove it in a plate.
- Now add paneer and cook from each sides till it gets a nice golden brown colour on the top. Once done remove it in a plate.
Kadai Paneer Gravy
- In the same pan add two tablespoons oil and butter.
- Once the butter melts add finely chopped onions and cook them till it turn light golden brown in colour.
- Further add ginger garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Now add finely chopped green chillies, tomatoes and salt. Mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes.
- Add all the dried spices; red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and turmeric powder. Add some water and cook for a minute.
- Now add the sautéed onions, capsicum, paneer and mix well. Let it simmer on medium heat for 3-4 minutes.
- Finally add the kadai paneer masala and kasuri methi and let it simmer for couple of more minutes.
- Lastly add fresh cream and give it a gentle mix.
- Serve hot with nan, paratha or any Indian bread or rice.
Recipe Notes
- You can also fry the paneer for this recipe.
- You can adjust the quantity of kadai paneer masala as per your taste. If you prefer it more spicy then add more.
