Lebanese Tahini Cucumber Sandwich

Ingredients

For Tahini
  • ¾ cup sesame seeds
  • 3-4 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt to taste
For Yoghurt Dip
  • 1 cup hung yoghurt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander
  • 1 green chilli finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves finely chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • salt to taste
For cucumber seasoning
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Extra
  • 1 onion
  • 6-8 bread slices

Steps In Making

For Tahini
  1. In a pan dry roast the sesame seeds for 2 minutes on medium heat so they turn light golden brown in colour and start to splutter.
  2. Once done let it cool down and transfer it in a mixer grinder and grind it for a minute.
  3. Now add the olive oil and salt and grind until smooth.
  4. Homemade tahini is ready. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for upto two weeks.
For Yoghurt Dip
  1. In a large bowl add all the ingredients; hung curd, fresh coriander, green chillies, garlic, salt, black pepper powder and mix well. The yoghurt dip is ready.
For preparing the vegetables
  1. To season the cucumbers, in a bowl add thinly sliced cucumber, olive oil, salt, black pepper powder and lemon juice and mix well. The cucumbers are ready.
  2. Take a onion and peal it. Now cut it into two. Take the bigger side and cut the onions into thin slices and then separate all the layers from each other.
Assembling Lebanese Tahini sandwich
  1. To make the tahini sandwich, take two slices of bread and on one slice add a tablespoon of the yoghurt dip and spread it evenly. On the other slice add two tablespoons of tahini and spread it evenly.
  2. Now place the cucumber slices on on bread slice and then add some thinly sliced onions on top of it. Cover it with the other bread slice and gently press it.
  3. Cut the sides of the sandwich with the help of a sharp knife.
  4. Tasty tahini and cucumber sandwiches are ready.

Recipe Notes

  • Make sure you use hung curd, else the sandwiches will become soggy.
