Shakarkandi Ki Chaat – Sweet Potato Chaat

Ingredients

  • 1 kg sweet potato
  • 2 tablespoons ghee
  • salt to taste
Crispy Sweet Potato Chaat
  • 500g boiled and roasted sweet potato
  • ½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • salt to taste
  • Sweet tamarind chutney
  • Coriander chutney
  • ¼ cup pomegranate
  • ¼ cup roasted peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • fresh coriander
Dahi Wali Chatpati Sweet Potato Chaat
  • 1 cup yoghurt
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 500g boiled and roasted sweet potato
  • Sweet tamarind chutney, as required
  • Coriander chutney, as required
  • ½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 3 tablespoons pomegranate
  • 3 tablespoons roasted peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • fresh coriander

Steps In Making

  1. Take boiled sweet potato and cut it into medium pieces.
  2. In a pan heat ghee and then add the sweet potatoes and roast them for 3-4 minutes or till they get a light golden colour and a crispy texture.
  3. Now divide the sweet potato into two portions.
  4. To make the crispy sweet potato chaat in a bowl add half the sweet potato, salt, roasted cumin powder, black pepper powder, sweet tamarind chutney, green chutney, roasted peanuts, pomegranate, sesame seeds, lemon juice, fresh coriander and mix well. First sweet potato chaat is ready.
  5. For the second dahi wali chatpati sweet potato chaat in a bowl add yoghurt and sugar and mix well.
  6. In a serving plate add the other half of the sweet potatoes, now put some sweet yoghurt, tamarind chutney, green chutney, salt, cumin powder, black pepper powder, pomegranate, roasted peanuts, sesame seeds, fresh coriander and serve.

Recipe Notes

  • To boil the sweet potato in a pressure cooker add 1/2 cup water and then add clean and washed sweet potato and let it cook on medium heat till two whistles. Once done, let it cool down completely and then peel the skin.
  • You can adjust the spices and chutney as per your preference.
  • If you dont want to cook the sweet potato in ghee. You can take plain boiled sweet potato too.
