Ingredients
For Vrat Wale Aloo
- 2 tablespoons ghee/clarified butter
- 1 teaspoon jeera/cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon ginger finely chopped
- 2 green chillies finely chopped
- 5 boiled potatoes diced
- ½ cup roasted peanuts coarsely grounded
- salt to taste
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder
- 2 tablespoons coriander
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Steps In Making Vrat Wale Aloo
- In a kadai heat ghee and then add cumin seeds, ginger and green chillies. Now sauté for a few seconds.
- Now add boiled and diced potatoes. Cook on medium heat for 5 minutes or until they get a light golden brown colour and a crispy texture on the outside.
- Add salt, and black pepper powder and mix well.
- Further, add roasted and coarsely grounded peanuts, cover with a lid and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Finally, add fresh coriander and lemon juice.
- Serve hot
Recipe Notes
- Do not make a fine powder of the peanuts.
- You can skip the cumin seeds if you don’t eat them in vrat.

For Tadke-Wala Raita
- 2 cups yoghurt
- 1 cucumber grated and squeezed
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder
- salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh coriander
- 1 tablespoon oil
- ¼ teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 green chilli finely chopped
- 2-3 dried red chillies
Steps In Making Tadke-Wala Raita
- In a bowl add yoghurt and with a whisk or a spoon beat it until smooth.
- Now take a cucumber, grate it and squeeze it in between your palms to remove the excess water.
- Now add the cucumber in the yoghurt along with salt, black pepper powder and fresh coriander. Mix until well combined.
- To prepare the tadka for the cucumber raita, heat oil in a pan and then add cumin seeds and green chillies. Let it cook for few seconds.
- Further add dried red chillies.
- Pour the tadka on top of the raita and serve it with the vrat wale peanut aloo.
Recipe Notes
- You can skip the cumin seeds if you don’t eat them in vrat.
