Homemade Pizza Recipe – No Yeast, No Cheese, No Oven

Ingredients

For the pizza dough
  • 2 cups refined flour/ maida
  • 1 cup curd/ dahi
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon oil (any flavourless oil)
  • 3-4 tablespoons water for kneading
For the white sauce
  • 1 tablespoon refined flour/maida
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ¾ cup (180ml) milk
  • ¼ cup (60ml) water
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon oregano or mixed herbs
For pizza toppings
  • 1 green capsicum (small)
  • 1 red bell pepper (small)
  • 1 onion (small)
  • 5-6 black olives
  • ½ cup pizza sauce

Steps In Making Homemade Pizza

The pizza dough
  1. In a large bowl add refined flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda and mix.
  2. Now add curd and mix again.
  3. Slowly add little water at a time and knead for about 3-4 minutes. The dough will be little sticky in the beginning but it will eventually become soft after kneading it for sometime.
  4. Now grease a bowl with some oil and put the dough in it. Cover it with a cling wrap or a wet cloth and keep it aside for around 30 minutes.
  5. After 30 minutes the dough will soft and will have a shiny texture. Knead for another couple of minutes. The pizza dough is ready to be used.
The white sauce
  1. Place a nonstick or a heavy bottom pan over low flame and add butter it in.
  2. Once the butter melts, add the refined flour and roast for around 2-3 minutes or until it becomes slight dark.
  3. Now add cold milk in two batches and keep stirring it continuously to avoid any lumps.
  4. Let it simmer 2 minutes and then add water.
  5. Now let it simmer on low flame for another 3-4 minutes till the white sauce becomes slightly thick.
  6. Add oregano and salt and mix well. The white sauce is ready.
To assemble the pizza
  1. Divide the pizza dough in 3 equal parts and form round balls.
  2. On a plain surface dust some refined flour and roll each dough ball into a thick chapati with the help of a rolling pin.
  3. Now carefully hold the same and place it in a greased non stick pan. Carefully round the edges and spread it evenly.
  4. Take a tablespoon of pizza sauce and evenly spread it on the pizza dough.
  5. Further put a generous amount of white sauce on top of it and spread it evenly.
  6. Top it with capsicum, bell peppers and olives.
  7. Cover the pan with a lid and now switch on the flame and let it cook for 9-10 minutes on low flame, until the crust is perfectly cooked.
  8. Once done transfer the pizza on a flat surface and slice it with a knife or a pizza cutter.
  9. Finally top it with some oregano and chili flakes and serve immediately.
  10. This homemade pizza recipe will give you 3 medium size pizzas.

Recipe Notes

  • Let the dough rest for 30 minutes, this will give the pizza crust a nice soft texture.
  • Always grease the bowl with some oil before resting the dough, else it might stick to the bowl.
  • If you don’t have a pizza sauce, you can replace it with ketchup.
  • While making the white sauce always add cold milk, else it will form lumps.
  • I would highly recommend you to add water in the white sauce to avoid it from getting very thick. But if you don’t want then you can always replace the water with same amount of milk.
  • Always grease the pan in which you will bake the pizza generously with oil, to avoid it from sticking. Never grease it with butter, else the crust will become very hard.
  • Always cook the pizza on low flame, else the bottom might burn and become hard.

Step By Step In Pictures For Homemade Pizza

1. In a large bowl add refined flour.

3. Add baking powder.

4. Add salt and mix well till everything is well combined.

5. Now add curd.

6. Give it a good mix.

7. Add little water at a time knead for 3-4 minutes to form a dough.

8. The dough will be slightly sticky in the beginning, but as you keep kneading it will become soft.

9. The pizza dough has got the perfect texture, it is not very soft, nor very hard.

10. Add some oil and knead for one more minute. Then grease the bowl with some oil ad let the dough rest.

11. Cover it with a cling wrap or a wet cloth and keep it aside for around 30 minutes.

12. To make the white sauce, take a pan and on low flame and add butter to it.

13. Now add refined flour and stir it for around 2 minutes.

14. The colour will darken a little.

15. Now add cold milk in two batches and keep stirring it continuously for 2-3 minutes.

16. Add water and cook again for couple of minutes.

17. The white sauce will start to thicken.

18. Add salt.

19. Add oregano and cook for a minute.

20. The white sauce is ready. Keep it aside for cooling.

21. After the pizza dough has rested for 30 minutes knead it for a minute.

22. Divide the dough into 3 equal parts.

23. Make round dough balls.

24. On a flat surface dust some refined flour and roll the dough ball into a flat chapati.

25. Please note, it shouldn’t be very thick.

26. To make the pizza, take a nonstick pan and generously grease it with some oil.

27. Now carefully place the pizza base on the pan and with the help of your fingers, press it evenly from the sides.

28. Now add the pizza sauce and spread it evenly.

29. Now add the white sauce and spread it evenly. You can vary the quantity of the white sauce and pizza sauce as per your preference.

30. Top it with veggies of your choice.

31. Cover the pan with a lid. Now switch on the flame and let the pizza bake for around 8-10 minutes on low flame.

32. Once done, sprinkle some oregano and chilli flakes.

33. With the help of a pizza cutter or knife cut the pizza into slices.

34. Serve your homemade pizza immediately.
