Suji Potato Fingers

Enjoy these crispy Suji Potato Fingers that you can make in just minutes for any time snacking.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (85g) semolina/suji
  • 3 boiled potatoes, medium
  • ¼ (60nl) cup water
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli flakes
  • oil for frying

Steps In Making

  1. In a bowl add semolina, hot water and oil and mix well. Now let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl add boiled potatoes and mash them with the help of a masher.
  3. Now add the suji mixture, chilli flakes, black pepper powder, salt and mix well.
  4. Grease your palm with oil and take some suji mixture. Give them long cylindrical shapes like fingers.
  5. Let them rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before frying (optional)
  6. Place a pan on medium flame with oil and one it becomes hot, fry the suji fingers for 2-3 minutes from both sides, until they get a nice golden colour and turn crisp.
  7. Serve hot with ketchup or chutney along with a hot cup of tea or coffee.

Recipe Notes

  • If the mixture becomes soft then add 2-3 tablespoons of corn flour or bread crumbs and let it rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • You can add green chillies, coriander or finely chopped veggies of your choice.
  • Always grease your palm before shaping the suji fingers, else they will stick to your palm.
  • After shaping the fingers, let them rest in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes, they will become firm and will be easy to fry.

4. Mix well and let it rest for 10 minutes.

5. In a large bowl add boiled potatoes.

6. Mash them with the help of a masher.

7. Potatoes looks perfect now, without any lumps.

8. Now add the suji mixture that we soaked earlier.

9. Add chilli flakes, black pepper powder, salt and mix well.

10. Looks perfect now.

11. Grease your palm with oil and take some suji mixture. Give them long cylindrical shapes like fingers. Let them rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before frying (optional)

12. Place a pan on medium flame with oil and one it becomes hot, fry the suji fingers for 2-3 minutes.

13. The suji fingers will change it’s colour become light golden.

14. Fry till its gets a nice brown golden colour.

15. Remove on a tissue paper.

16. Serve hot with ketchup or chutney.
