Cheesy Veg Lollipop

Ingredients for cheesy veg lolipops

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon green chillies, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons french beans finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons carrots, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons corn
  • 3 tablespoons green peas
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon amchoor powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • ½ teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chilli flakes
  • ½ teaspoon kasuri methi
  • 5 medium boiled potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander
  • salt to taste
  • 4 square cheese cubes
  • 1 cup corn flakes
  • 1 pinch salt
  • ½ cup corn flour
  • water as required
  • oil for frying

Ingredients for dip

  • 4 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon chilli flakes
  • 1 teaspoon oregano/Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder

Steps In Making

  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Now add finely chopped ginger, garlic and green chillies and cook for few seconds or until it gets light golden brown colour.
  3. Further add finely chopped french beans, carrots, sweet corn and green peas. Cook for couple of minutes.
  4. Now add salt, coriander powder, cumin powder, amchoor powder, garam masala, red chilli powder, red chilli flakes, kasuri methi and mix well, cook for another minute and then let it cool down.
  5. In a large bowl, take boiled potatoes and mash them with the help of a potato masher. Now add the vegetables we cooked along with some fresh coriander and salt. Mix till everything is well combined. The veg masala is ready for the lollipops.
  6. Take small square cheese cubes and cut them into two pieces. Take an ice cream stick and insert it in each cheese cube. Now take two tablespoons of the aloo masala we prepared and place stick on it. Cover the stick with the masala, giving it the shape of a lollipop. Similarly make the rest of the lollipops. This recipe will yield 6 veg lollipops.
  7. We will coat the veg lollipops in a corn flour slurry and corn flakes. To make the corn flour slurry, in a bowl add corn flour and water and mix till well combined. For the corn flakes, grind them in a mixer grinder, till it gets a coarse texture. You can also bread crumbs for this recipe.
  8. Now coat the veg lollipops with the slurry and then gently roll them in corn flakes, making sure its evenly coated from each sides.
  9. Once done, let them rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm up.
  10. Deep fry in hot oil for 3-4 minutes or until it gets a golden crispy brown texture. Veg lollipops are ready, serve immediately.
  11. To make the dip for the veg lollipops, in a bowl add tomato ketchup, mayonnaise, oregano, chilli flakes, garlic powder, onion powder and mix till well combined. The 2 minute dip is ready.

Recipe Notes

  • You can use any vegetable of your choice, just make sure they are finely chopped.
